Cade (Rectified) is a potent, smoky, and resinous oil derived from the wood of the Juniperus oxycedrus tree, a species of juniper native to the Mediterranean region. Through a process of destructive distillation followed by rectification (purification), this oil becomes safer for aromatherapy and skincare applications while retaining its distinctive tar-like, leathery scent.
Traditionally used in folk remedies for centuries, Cade oil is well-known for its powerful antiseptic, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is especially valued in natural skincare for treating chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, acne, and dandruff. When used in very low concentrations and well diluted, it can calm irritated skin and support scalp health.
In perfumery, Cade is a bold base note that brings a smoky, campfire depth to masculine and woody fragrances. Aromatically, it is grounding and protective, often used to evoke feelings of strength and resilience. Cade should always be used with care due to its intensity and is not recommended for sensitive skin or prolonged use.
Its smoky character blends well with rich woods, spices, and sweet balsamic oils, adding complexity and depth to natural formulations.
