Aniseed, derived from the seeds of the Pimpinella anisum plant, is renowned for its sweet, warm, and spicy aroma reminiscent of licorice. Used since ancient times in both culinary and medicinal applications, Aniseed oil is prized for its soothing, digestive, and expectorant properties. Rich in anethole, the same compound found in fennel and star anise, this oil is particularly effective in supporting respiratory and gastrointestinal health.

In aromatherapy, Aniseed is often used to ease indigestion, gas, cramps, and bloating. It also acts as a gentle stimulant, helping to alleviate fatigue, mental fog, and emotional stagnation. Its warming, comforting scent makes it ideal for promoting relaxation, emotional balance, and deeper breathing. When diffused, it can help relieve symptoms of colds, coughs, and bronchitis thanks to its antispasmodic and decongestant actions.

Due to its intense, sweet character, Aniseed oil is used sparingly in blends but pairs beautifully with herbaceous, citrus, and spicy oils. While highly beneficial, it should always be used in moderation and properly diluted due to its potency and estrogen-like effects.
